End of 2018 UBL and UN/CEFACT CII mandatory for governments

Governments and local authorities should be able to receive and process UBL and UN/CEFACT CII by the end of 2018

It was already known that Europe is working on a standard for e-invoicing: agreements on what invoice elements a government should be able to receive. This makes e-invoicing a lot simpler: each government can demand the same data.
Now the European Commission has also agreed on what standards the government should support: UBL and UN/CEFACT CII. The first is known in the Netherlands and some other countries. The UN/CEFACT CII is in use in a number of neighboring countries.

The new European standard will be embraced within Simplerinvoicing so that SI UBL is in line with the European Standard. As a result anyone can invoice the government with SI UBL. The new European Standard will be implemented in Simplerinvoicing 1.3. Read more
